Description
An Italian Bronze Table Fountain, 19th Century,
after Giacomo della Porta (c. 1533-1602) and Taddeo Landini (c. 1550-1596), the Fontana della Tartarughe in Piazza Mattei, Rome.
The fountain with circular stepped bowl, flanked by four tortoises, and four masks which spout water from the bowl, raised on a baluster stem surrounded by four male nudes with outstretched hands, each resting on a dolphin perched on a shell, above a shaped square base, each having a central cartouche on a stepped and molded plinth.
H: 16 1/2 W: 14 1/4 D: 14 1/4 in.

Condition
Lacking upper mask. One male figure lacking rear foot and finger detached. Other male figure has crack to front ankle, and poor repair to arm and rear foot. Multiple tears to bronze. Poor repairs. Surface oxidation throughout. Missing elements.
