Description
This is a seminal map of today's Columbia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and parts of Central America, Brazil, and Peru. The work is based on the 1799-1804 travels in Latin America of Humboldt, a Prussian geographer, naturalist and explorer. He had an important influence on Darwin. Much of his focus during this exploration dealt with the condition of the indigenous peoples, and the geography and bottany in which they live in. A very large amount and detailed information is offered including topography, rivers, lakes, towns, positions identified by astronomical positions, etc. From the first English edition of 'Personal Narrative of Travels to the Equinoctial Regions of the New Continent, During the Years 1799-1804.'
