Rare Luguru Chiefs Throne, Tanzania: The distinguishing feature of this stool is the high backrest in the form of a stylized female torso with sharply defined breasts. The backrest is surmounted by a head carved in the round, with a discoid seat supported by openwork legs. Luguru peoples, Tanzania, East Africa. Provenance: The Dr. Brian Healy estate, New York.
