NEW ENGLAND CORNER / ROUNDABOUT CHAIR, maple and oak, demilune crest rail with rounded terminals, supported on three turned posts, square seat with front corner block and old woven-rush, raised on turned legs terminating in ball feet, joined by block stretcher. Retains traces of an old red-wash finish. Together with a custom seat cover made from blue linsey-woolsey fabric. Late 18th/early 19th century. 29 3/4" HOA, 17" H seat, 16" D seat.
Very good overall condition, losses to rush-seat, and with areas of expected usage wear.
Provenance: The collection of the late Theodore "Ted" and Alvina Breckel, Oley, PA and Winnetka, IL.
