PENNSYLVANIA WRIGGLEWORK TIN ON SHEET-IRON COFFEE POT, soldered two-part body with applied straight spout, reinforced strap handle, and hinged domed lid with beaded edge and cast-metal finial, raised on a flanged foot, sides decorated with flowers and leaves, one side with large eagle-type bird next to a flag on pole, other side with a smaller bird perched on a plinth, side of handle with a long serpent, traces of paint decoration. Unmarked. Southeast Pennsylvania. 1830-1860. 11 3/4 HOA, 6 5/8" D foot.
Good overall condition with expected wear, some scattered dents, spots of minor corrosion, lid with slight bending, repairs to side of handle, at terminal of spout and body, and to underside of base, worn spots to decoration, edge of foot with a few short splits and bending.
