Item Details
Description

Very impressive spyglass made by the famed H. Hughes & Son Company. Instrument has old leather wrap stitched around a majority of the body. There is a window in the leather that features various countries flags along with single and warning flags. This window at one time appears to have had a clear material over it to protect it from the elements. Instrument measures approximately 36 inches long. Eye lens has a cover with a sharp pin allow for quick opening and closing. Near the eye lens is H. Hughes & Son; 59 Fenchurch St; London engraved into the metal. Predating the companies incorporation in 1903, this piece was likely made in the 19th Century. Lenses likely need to be cleaned inside as it is difficult to see through. Wonderful piece for display.
