Wonderful original example of a KIM Korean diving helmet. This is a 3 light (3 windows) 12 bolt (12 breastplate studs) model helmet. Made with a copper body and brass hardware, this style of helmet has been used for much of the 20th Century by divers. KIM was one of the larger helmet manufacturer in Korea.

This example does retain the original brass ID plate but the plate is loose. Two brass pins hold the plate on and could be replaced. The helmet has a wonderful visual appearance with an unmistakable patina formed over decades. This helmet is also in relatively good condition. A large majority of helmets that enter the collector market from Korea and Japan have been used up or abused.

Typical working dents are prevalent on the top of the bonnet which is to be expected. Upon close examination a distinctive solder line around the crown of the bonnet is visible. The front faceplate has been soldered to the helmet. All the glass is present. The inside of the bonnet is missing one air ducts. The exhaust valve button is intact. There is no neck ring gasket. The breastplate inner neck ring does have four holes drilled into it. This was done to secure the helmet to a wood display stand. The holes are not visible when the bonnet is attached. If you are looking for an authentic vintage helmet for display purposes, this is a great one to consider!

All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity. The display stand shown in the photos is not included.
