Herman and Estelle Goodman
As a painter and sculptor, Goodman is an original. Her strange and haunting works of lonely people, dancing nuns, flummoxed crowds, apparitions, ghosts and disembodied faces, recall the works of James Ensor, the Belgian artist of the late 19th century, as well as the strange universe works of Louise Nevelson and Miro, as well Giacometti, Lynn Chadwick and George Segal. This work is completely original, signed by both Herman and Estelle Goodman, as in many cases, they would work together on a single painting. The subject seems to be a frightening environment of demonic and disembodied faces, trying to relate to each other. Signed H.E.Goodman(for Herbert and Estelle) and dated 1960 lower right corner.
