Description
French, late 19th to early 20th century. White bisque porcelain figural group, "Toilet of Venus", modeled after Louis-Simon Boizot (1743-1809), depicting Venus surrounded by her attendants and putti. Impressed marks and "515"; together with a bronze rococo style base. Note: The original 1780 plaster cast of this piece is housed at the Sevres Manufactory. Approx. h. 14", dia. 9". (figure).
Condition
One putti missing foot; very minor chips to florals; no cracks or restorations when examined under ultraviolet light.
