Description
This Antique Hand Painted Dresden Covered Potpourri Basket was made by the Schierholz Porcelain factory, in the early 1900's. Von Schierholz porcelain has been made since 1817. Since its inception, the Von Scheirholz factory has produced fine luxury quality porcelain equal to Meissen, Dresden, and other producers in what is now Germany. This is often sold as a candy dish, but is in reality a potpourri basket, it's why both the bowl and the cover have the beautiful filigree piercings. The basket is raised on four elegant feet, and has hand painted gilding. The cover features the wonderful hand painted cherub Von Schierholz is world renowned for, right in the most of a large pink rose and other garden flowers. Basket is in good, antique condition with some very minor wearing and a white spot (missed pain?) on one of the flowers. Is approx 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 5.
