KENNEDY ROBERT: (1925-1968) American Politician, United States Attorney General 1961-64. Rare A.L.S., Bob Kennedy, on two sides of his official Attorney General's correspondence card from the Department of Justice, Washington, n.d. (May 1964), to Joseph Kingsbury-Smith, Publisher at the New York Journal American. Kennedy thanks his correspondent for their letter and continues 'I had already seen the copies of the papers with the pictures - and I agree with you and your account of them.' He continues to add 'What all of you have done for the Pres. Kennedy library is really invaluable. We are all most grateful to you...'. Written on Kennedy's black bordered mourning stationery following the assassination of his brother, John F. Kennedy, on 22nd November 1963, the letter is accompanied by the original envelope which is stamped as having been received on 29th May 1964, which would have been the deceased President's 47th birthday. Autograph Letters of Kennedy are extremely rare and this is a particularly desirable example. About EX Joseph Kingsbury-Smith (1908-1999) American Journalist & Pulitzer Prize winner.
