Description
Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A stunning ensemble of 3 hand-carved intaglios: 2 carnelian and 1 green agate. Boasting translucent hues of crimson and apricot, the carnelian intaglios are both circular. The crimson-colored intaglio displays the image of Pegasus, while the lighter shaded stone shows a deer facing left. Last, the green agate intaglio features an opaque hue of emerald and exhibits a standing female facing right with a large feather. Size (of largest): 0.5" in diameter (1.3 cm); Size (of custom display case, both the same): 1.25" in diameter x 0.5" H (3.2 cm x 1.3 cm)
