Continental Stained Glass Roundel, Leiden, Netherlands
Rendered in sepia tones with yellow silver stain, depicting Sorgheloos and Lichte Fortune. Sorgheloos was the antihero of a popular Dutch moralizing tale loosely based on The Prodigal son.Â
9 3/4 in. diam.
Note: A similar stained glass roundel depicting Sorgheloos and Lichte Fortune is in the Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio, and dated 1520.Â
