A delicate well painted porcelain vase with decorated panels of nobles with beautiful ladies and attendants.The molded vase has stylized dragon handles on the neck and a hexagonal-shaped body. It is decorated with two panels on the body depicting a mandarin in his home with attendants and beauties. Butterflies and flowers fill in around the panels. Two smaller panels are decorated to appear as though someone is looking down from a window. The vase has a nice white glaze and the designs use iron red, rose, green, blue, and yellow over glaze enamels. Black has been used to outline and accent, and accented with gilding. The painting is very fine and minute. There is still some gilding in the hair.There is a shallow cut foot that is unglazed. The base is glazed. There are no marks or labels.MEASUREMENTS6.75” (17.1 cm) tall x 2.3” (5.8 cm) long x 2” (5.1 cm) wide. Weighs 8.6 oz (245 g)CONDITIONThere are three rim chips. The everted lip partially hides these chips. There are some glaze losses in spots on the panel of the mandarin seated at the table and on one of the melons at the base. There is wear to the gilding, as well as to the delicate facial features.
