19th Century etching by Eugene Burney "Portrait de Monseigneur de Segur" ( Louis-Gaston de Segur, April 15, 1820 – June 9, 1881) was a French bishop and charitable pioneer. In 1881 he organized the first formal Eucharistic Congress in Lille France which was approved by Pope Leo XIII and was attended by 4,0000 people. The etching is a portrait of the Monseigneur against a dark background, wearing a long dark robe and clasps his hands together in a fist. Creator: Gaillard, Ferdinand, 1834-1887. Signed by the artist & dated on the reverse 1881. 10 1/2" X 14 1/2" within a portfolio.
