Italian Patinated Bronze Figure of Dionysus
first quarter 20th century, after the sculpture (originally identified as Narcissus) excavated in 1862 in the ruins of Pompeii and now conserved at the Museo Nazionale, Naples, presented on a black marble columnar plinth.

Condition
Overall good estate condition with scattered nicks, areas of rubbing/abrading, surface scratches. Old repairs to neck, proper right upper arm and right index finger. Dents at right side of neck and right shoulder. Soiling/accretions, especially in more deeply modeled areas. Base with scattered losses and surface scratches.
