Description
Faberge Collection Reproduction Imperial Easter Egg
20th century, after the 1907 "Cradle with Garlands" egg, gilt metal, enamel, faux pearls and chalcedony, the egg opening to reveal a locket on chain, presented in the original cream satin-lined, gilt-stamped indigo velvet case.
h. 6-3/4", w. 6-1/2", d. 5-1/2"; case 12" x 5-1/2" x 6-1/2"
Notes: The original, by workmaster Henrik Wigstrom, is one of the few Imperial eggs in private hands (other than the nine owned by Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg and displayed in the museum he constructed for them). The "surprise" is missing in the original; Faberge records show that it was a miniature of the Imperial children.
