Description
ENGLISH STONEWARE SYRUP PITCHERS, LOT OF FIVE, each having metal Britannia hinged lid, comprising four brown-glazed examples including two with rouletted designs, one with beaded shoulder decoration, one featuring three applied sprig designs featuring sitting men smoking and drinking, and a blue-glazed example with relief lion and crown motif. Marks include impressed "England", "DOULTON / LAMBETH / ENGLAND", and "ENGLAND DUDSON". Together with a light green syrup pitcher featuring classical white figures and molded mask handle, having printed royal arms mark with "PATENT MOSAIC / T. & R. BOOTE". Six pieces total. Thomas & Richard Boote, Burslem; Doulton, Lambeth; Dudson Brothers, Hanley, England; and others. Fourth quarter 19th century. 6 3/8" HOA.
