A Victorian mahogany miniature or child's mahogany Wellington chest
of typical form, the moulded top over six graduated drawers with turned knopped handles flanked by plain pilasters on plinth base, 49cm high, 36.5cm wide, 25cm deep

Generally in fair to good condition commensurate with age and use.
The top of the chest has warped and as such it appears to be slightly leaning to the right of its central axis although this is not especially detrimental to its appearance until one looks very closely. As such the upright lockable right pilaster has a gap to its top below the actual top of the chest.
There are all over minor scratches, dents and scuffs particularly to the extremities and to the top from use.
There is a open small crack to the right upper side of the pilaster and a darkened scratch or crack to the bottom of the lock at a 45 degree angle. The key opens this pilaster easily and when it hinges back it reveals old paper labels which suggest it was used as a stamp collectors cabinet.
There is open crack to the left hand side to the top about a third back from the front and two similar but smaller darkened cracks one which splits half way on the right hand side.
The fourth drawer down is not as easy to open as the others suggesting it might have warped slightly also.
Most of the boarded back to the rear is now missing and has been replaced by a single large piece of lighter thing hardboard or ply.
