Description
Judaea. Pontius Pilate (26-36 AD) Bronze Prutah. Good/VG. Rough and unevenly patinated, however the obverse lituus featured on Pilate's coinage is quite prominent. Pontius Pilate is well known as being the Roman governor of Judaea at the time of the crucifixion of Jesus. He both presided over His trial and ordered that Jesus be crucified, though he famously "washed his hands" to show that he did not find Jesus guilty of any crime. Est. $40.
