Description
Italian States, Tuscany. 1567 Silver Testone, PCGS XF40. The obverse features a bust of Cosimo I de Medici, Duke of Florence at the time this coin was struck and Grand Duke of Tuscany from 1569 until his death in 1574; the reverse portrays a seated John the Baptist on a rock. This entirely satisfying specimen offers medium lavender-grey toning that adorns underlying surfaces that are absolutely ideal for the condition level. Auction appearances of this RARE type are few and far between, especially at the quality level offered here. In fact, this is the only example graded by PCGS at any condition level, and as far as we can tell, it is the finest example to reach the auction block in at least 15 years!. Est. $725.
