An Historic Charleston, SC Slave Auctioneer U.S. Merchant Token. 1846 W.W. Wilbur Auction & Commission Merchant (Miller SC-8, Brass, period after CA). A wholly natural, evenly worn Choice Fine. This mercantile business was quite varied, and among its many ventures was the sale of slaves (as is well documented in newspaper advertisements of the period). A scarce and historically significant token from a way of life to which we must never return but also never forget. Est. $75.
