Description
1872 1st ed Brigham Young Destroying Angel Hickman Mormon WAR Mormonism Secrets

“One of the essential documents of Western history!”

‘Wild Bill’ Hickman was a renown American frontiersman remembered for his involvement within the Mormon Church and close relationship with Brigham Young. Hickman wrote an autobiographical work in which he admitted to committing numerous murders; a work that was published with additional notes by J.H. Beadle (a notable anti-Mormon figure) under the title ‘Destroying Angel’ in 1872.

While it is completely unknown whether the contents are factual or not, the book caused significant turmoil in his life and had to be protected by the witness protection program. Hickman was excommunicated from the Church of Christ after, according to some, he refused to commit an assassination for Brigham Young.

In addition to the secrets of Hickman’s personal life, this book includes aspects of his journey across the American west. According to Eberstadt,

“Hickman narrates his trip across the Plains to Salt Lake in 1849; the journey from thence to California with the Watson train, his experiences among the miners and in them ining camps to 1952; return to Salt Lake and the work during the Mormon War.”

Anderson Galleries says of this work:

“Despite the weird title, this autobiography is one of the essential documents of Western history.”
