NATIVE AMERICAN CHIEF IVORY SCRIMSHAW NECKLACE - BENADE

Lot Passed

FRAMED NATIVE AMERICAN CHIEF SCRIMSHAW NECKLACE Lynn Benade (Native American, Lakota). This necklace was custom made at the request of the consignor. The artist (Lynn Benade) was asked to create a turquoise and ivory scrimshaw necklace to possess the 5 Native Americans whom she felt were the most influential and historically significant. To this request, she set out to create this magnificent work of art. The 5 slices of scrimshaw ivory tusk are each set in sterling silver bezels and joined by a 3-strand Natural Turquoise necklace. The 5 Native American leaders she chose are as follows (clockwise from top right) - Geronimo, Chief Joseph, Chief Eagle, Red Cloud, and Sitting Bull. Each scrimshaw work is signed and dated by the artist. The necklace took more than a year to deliver and exhibits unbelievable attention to detail and a mastery of skill. This is a truly unique piece of history and art. Size: 42"
