Description
A large Chinese wooden censer dating from the Ming or Qing dynasty with a wood stand and metal foot. The censer is painted to resemble bronze, and it has beast head handles and bands of stylized geometric beasts to the body, feet, and neck.
Dimensions are: 8 1/2 inches tall X 17 inches wide, 21.6 cm X 43.2 cm. Weight: 13 lbs 13 oz. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is significant age wear including loss to the surface. There are areas of repair and overpainting.
Provenance: From a private Virginia collection.
