Presentation begins at 7 p.m.Enrique Cay is a 39-year-old Guatemalan artist from the town of Sumpango, Sacatepequez. This town is a Kakchikel-speaking city known for its incredible kite festival each year for Day of the Dead (Nov. 1). Cay studied architecture but has pursued his passion of painting and sculpture with great success. His work has been featured in over 90 solo and collective exhibitions and he was chosen as one of the artists to represent Guatemala at the World Fair in Shanghai.His work uniquely deals with the Mayan folklore and religion. Celebrating the rich history of the Mayans and their celebrations. As well his art incorporates the influence of the church and the topography of Guatemala. One of his most famous series of paintings has been the kites used for Day of the Dead.
