DESCRIPTION: (4 Pc) A signed John Melkonian "Raku" art pottery vase grouping set. This set includes four (4) pottery vases in two different sizes. Three vases decorated with a matching triangular dented decorative rim motif and a fourth vase decorated with a copper rim. Signed on bottom "John Melkonian". John Melkonian has been a studio artist since 1972 and is recognized as a master in the fine ceramic process of Raku. First introduced to the United States in the 1960s, the Raku process is an ancient Japanese pottery firing technique used to produce contemporary style with a rich historic tradition. Today, Melkonians award winning pottery is desired by major collectors throughout the United States and Canada. ( Ref. B)
