Description: This is an excellent and a foundational map of the Transmississippi United States west. It represents the culmination of fifty years of government explorations starting with Lewis and Clark. It is post Gadsden-purchase. Large sections, however, are still labeled "unexplored territory" and the Yellowstone lake is yet to be mapped. This map shows large, transitional territories of Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah, Oregon, Washington and Minnesota. Along with topography, rivers and lakes, towns and cities are identified.
