Description
Beautiful early 19th Century Georgian English blue and white transferware foot bath produced by Spode. Two handled, and decorated in their Castle pattern, introduced circa 1806. Encircling images of a castle gate, towers, and other architectural elements, human figures, and flora. The pattern was based on an aquatint titled "The Gate of Sebastian at Capena," published by J. Merigot and R. Edwards in London, 1796-98, in their book "Views of Rome and Its Vicinity." Impressed and printed SPODE marks and Crown to underside. Felt to underside.

Good to fair overall condition, having normal age related wear and a hairline to bottom interior of basin. Small brown firing mark to interior basin.
