William Hammond Hall (1846–1934) was a civil engineer who was the first State Engineer of California, and designed Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA. William Jarvis McAlpine (1812–1890) was an American civil engineer and politician from New York. He was New York State Engineer and Surveyor from 1852 to 1853.
