Bisque head with flat-cut neck socket, large dark brown paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eyelids, brushstroked and feathered brows, closed mouth with modeled space between the shaded and accented lips, pierced ears, antique blonde mohair wig, muslin-covered torso has carved wooden lower legs and feet styled as though wearing painted black boots with button closures, wooden arms articulated at the shoulders, elbows and wrists, and having fully-articulated wooden fingers with double jointing, wearing superb antique cerulean blue silk costume and straw bonnet. Commentary: Leon Casimir Bru circa mid-1880’s; created bisque heads for milliners and couturier purposes; rare size, fine detail of sculpting, choice bisque, fabulous wig and costume, pinky finger broken on right hand; head sewn onto body with newer stringing.
