Massachusetts Captain Thaddeus Parsons Company Book

A small military records volume, 60pp with an additional few pages at the back, measuring 6.5" x 8", Easthampton, Massachusetts, dated July 17, 1816, to October 8, 1831. The book contains records of Company orders, activities, and parades, written by officers Thaddeus Parsons, Daniel Lyman, and Oliver Clark Jr. The majority of entries concern review parades. Highlights include:

September 28, 1818: "Isaac Robinson being absent from roll call & Military duty forfeits $2.00 also Nehemiah Strong being lawfully warned to appear at Northampton on the 1st day of Oct 1818 was absent from roll call & Military duty forfeits $2.00…"

May 4, 1819: "agreeable to the order of the 28th of April the company paraded & dismissed until further orders."

April 23, 1822: "Warrant to Dwight Lyman…warn all the non commissioned officers and privates belonging to the company of Captn Clark to appear at the usual place of parade of said company on Tuesday the 7th day of May at one o'clock in the afternoon for the annual May inspection armed & equipped as the law directs…"

October 2, 1827: "at the above company training…the company voted unanimously that the Officers should abolish the Practice of Treating with Ardent Spirits on all occasions a Noble Resolution let it be kept sacred…"

At the back of the volume are short ledgers of payments made to the men of Captain Oliver Clark Jr. and Captain Luke Janes' Companies. The book has marbled covers and half-calf leather binding. With bumped and worn corners and spine. Rubbing and chipping to the spine as well. Light foxing throughout and minor soiling to the internal pages. The spine is cracked but the binding is sound.
