Harry S. Truman Signed State Dinner Menu from The Lotos Club
3pp, measuring 8" x 11" (sight), New York, November 14, 1957. A menu from the State Dinner held in honor of President Truman at the Lotos Club in New York. Inscribed and signed "To Jack Haupa Jr kindest regards Harry S Truman." Three pages of the menu have been matted, including the front page, a portrait of Truman (which he has signed), and the menu page. The matted display has been framed to the overall size of 32.75" x 18.5". Boldly signed, near mint.
The Lotos Club was a New York gentleman's club founded in 1870. The club attracted numerous literary and artistic patrons and had notable members including Andrew Carnegie, Mark Twain, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Leslie Howard, William Randolph Hearst, Peter O'Toole, and Orson Welles. In 1977, the club amended its constitution to allow for female members such as Brooke Astor, Renée Fleming, and Margaret Mead.
