This stunning work of art was created by Kyoto Japan painter Kusumi Morikage. The accompanying letter is from Vanderbuilt University in Nashville, TN, gives you a nice history of Morikage, who was a student of Kano who mainly focused on birds, scenery and foliage, which is what you see here. This work appears to be reeds with a bird sitting on a rock. It is signed along the lower left border with publisher mark in red. The documentation included with the letter is a shipping customs declaration from seller stating this item is over 100 years old, declared value of 40,000 yen. Date appears to be 1977, but unsure how to read the shipping label. Also comes in original bamboo fitted box.
