Description
What a wonderful piece of Hollywood history! These shoes are Herbert Levine, designed by his wife Beth. Marilyn wore Levine shoes in both her public and private life. As noted in the Letter of Authenticity, these shoes were acquired shortly after her death by Sidney Rosenstein, a motion picture exec on both coasts. From research, it appears Inez Melson, Ms. Monroe's manager, gave away or sold quite a bit of Ms. Monroe's personal belongings to Mr. Rosenstein. Ms. Melson was recommended to her position by Joe DiMaggio, she was to report to him how things were going n Marilyn's life. Melson, who was not named in Marilyn's will but ordered by a judge to be the administrator of her estate, set aside many of Marilyn's belongings to be sold at an estate sale in 1963, in which she advertised as "Personal Property Likely To Depreciate in Value" These shoes have been nicely framed and memorialized, including the letter you see. Measures 31" x 39"
