Description
Chinese 18th/19th Century Famille Verte Glazed Biscuit Porcelain Tea Jar with 2 windows of Scholars, one playing the Guqin in a boat over water, another with scrolls teaching a student under a pine against a fish-skin green ground with auspicious objects and brocade borders; fitted with a dark hard wood cover, possibly zitan, pierced with Bats and inset with a white jade "Shou" medallion probably Ming Dynasty and with a solid hard wood, well carved stand. Height of porcelain jar 6 inches (15.2 cm.). Diameter of white jade medallion 2 1/4 inches (5.5 cm.). PROVENANCE: From a private New York City collection.
Condition
Age related wear and short scratches to porcelain, wood cover with a few small shrinkage cracks, solid stand with 2 short shrinkage cracks and now slightly oval.
