RARE RARE RARE wonderful early relic of a Massachusetts Goldeneye Drake c1890. A Nickerson family decoy, Cape Cod, MA. A 14 ¾ inch hollow decoy joined with five dowels inserted through the top, tack eye and raised wing tips. In old paint with in use white areas repaint, wear, shot strikes. Chip of wood off upper head on one side. Bill chips, age lines and tight cracks. One example in like condition from this period sold by our firm soared to 5 figures in a sale a decade or sold ago. That decoy and rig mate to this example was the decoy pictured on the 1977 Massachusetts Duck Stamp painted by the late artist William Tyner. No estimate. Provenance: Dr. Ralph Angus Collection.
