Description
Utagawa Hiroshige (Japanese, 1797-1858) pair of woodblock prints on paper. The first: Tokaido Goju-san Tsugi no Uchi - Mariko. It was famous for the local delicacy, tororo-jiru (grated yam soup). The two men in the tea house eating it, were the funny guys, Mr. Yaji and Mr. Kita of Hizakurige. The second: Mishima: Morning mist station 12. Both from The 53 Stations of the Tokaido (Hoeido-Edition), signed with Hieroglyphs, and titled in pencil lower right. Originally published in the 1830s. This edition was published probably in the early 20th century. Both framed.
