Description
Featured in this lot is this custom made hardwood carpenter’s two-piece workbench, circa 1900-1930’s. The workbench features a variety of sizes for tools and carpentry implements, along with a turned wooden screw shaft for the vices. The workbench includes an all wooden construction with square dowels; the only metal shown in the construction are lag bolts shown on the sides of the bench with square heads, identifying its age as very early. The bench shows hand hewn joints. The top has been worked to a uniform surface and shows decades of wear and use. The condition of this workbench is good overall; it features sweat marks from use and from working with stains. Both of the wooden vices are confirmed to work and are in good overall condition. There appears to be a very faded 'Winchester' stamp on the right hand side of the workbench. The measurements of this carpenter’s workbench are 84” x 33” x 33 ¼”. These carpentry workbenches are highly sought after pieces of furniture and this example is one of the best available on the open market.
