Item Details
Description
Northwestern Europe, United Kingdom, Manchester, WWI era, ca. 1914 to 1918 CE. A cylindrical steel periscope with a tapering profile and a leather sheath. The end cap is stamped with the maker's name: "JAMES E. LEES & CO. 63 WHITWORTH ST. MANCHESTER PROV. PATENT." At each end are viewing mirrors and a lens cap on a hinge to protect the viewing window. The periscope could also be paired with a binocular at the top to see even more clearly! Size: 16.5" L x 2" W (41.9 cm x 5.1 cm)
