Jacques Adnet became known both as an architect and decorator. He starting working at Rapin and later at Tony Selmersheim. Adnet saw himself as an "innovator and classicist, a champion of the tradition leading toward the future." Infatuated with functionalism, he created solidly constructed furniture. Adnet does not conceive furniture as elements of the interior space, but more like perfectly independent units. This coffee table is a striking example of Jacques Adnet's ability to create the sublime.

The beautiful symmetry of this table is rather remarkable. The oak disk top is balanced on a Hermes leather clad neck and supported by Black painted steel and brass feet.
