WILLIAM THOMSON Signed Casein Painting, inscription reads ‘Bix Beiderbecke 1929’, inscription to reverse reads ‘Study of Bix Beiderbecke’, subject a gentleman in half shadow looking directly at viewer, measures 16.5 x 18.5 in, window measures 5 7/8 x 5 inches, wooden frame, surface wear to frame, professionally framed and double matted in white, not examined out of frame. William Thomson, born March 16, 1931 painted landscapes, cityscapes, interior and figurative works most often with use of warm, rich, earth tones, creating a haunting and intriguing atmosphere, regardless of the subject matter. He worked in acrylic, encaustic, egg tempera, as well as oil to watercolor.
