This is a lot of 14 unique handmade vintage novelty Chinese undivided back postcards which are all unposted. Increasingly rare and difficult to find today, the art is mainly of daily life in China around the beginning of the 20th century. These Chinese postcards were created with a montage of "macerated" money. Maceration began in 1874, a new method of destroying old currency by shredding of the bills into tiny bits of paper. Today, turn-of-the-century macerated souvenirs are rare and highly sought after by collectors. Media commonly used in mail art include postcards, paper, a collage of found or recycled images and objects, rubber stamps, artist-created stamps. Mail art is considered art once it is dispatched. Mail artists regularly call for thematic or topical mail art for use in exhibition. Note: Since these are put together with money, no two postcards are identical. Each postcard is a unique, one of a kind piece of artwork. Each of these postcards come in a hard plastic case which are meant to preserve the quality of the original artwork and to prevent damage.
