MOLLY GUION Signed Oil Canvas of Army General, signature to lower right reads ‘ M Guion’, subject a military personnel resting atop a horse, measures approximately 19 in x 23 inches, window measures 15 3/4 x 19 3/4 inches, wooden gilt frame, frame has been nailed in, minor surface wear, professionally framed, Artwork has not been examined out of frame. Guion was initially unsuccessful as a portrait painter in New York.She travelled to Britain to look for work, and was successful there in making contacts and having work commissioned by well-known people.She "spent several years “painting lords and dukes, staying in castles, having a marvelous time"".She painted Winston Churchill in 1946.
