Description

DESCRIPTION: A signed Louis Pierre Malpass (French, 19th Cent.) porcelain vase lamp in the Japanese style designed as a two handled vase with a samurai motif decoration. The vase body has completely gilt background with blossoming branches, birds and winged dragon relief motifs, and is further decorated with three landscape decorations. This vase lamp is characteristic of the taste for Japonism in the 1870-1880s in Europe. Signed "L. Malpass.".

CIRCA: Late 19th Century.
ORIGIN: France.
DIMENSIONS: H: 39 1/4" W: 9 1/4".
