Stevens, printed by the Chiswick Press, 1893. 14" x 8.5". [4], lxvi, 284, [2] pp. + colored coat-of-arms frontispiece, one photographic plate, errata slip inserted at page 141, and some other plates (come color) which are included in the pagination (complete.) Bound in original 1/4 calf over wooden boards, with anchor shaped brass clasps, all in imitation of an older binding. ***************** Presentation copy inscribed and signed by B.F. Stevens, dated 1894 (front endpaper.) Printed on fine paper. The work contains the photographic facsimile of the Columbus manuscript in the Archives of the Foreign Office in Paris. Prior to Columbus's fourth and final voyage to America, he gathered several judges and notaries to authorize authentic copies of his archive of original documents which had granted certain titles and privileges to Columbus and his descendants.
Condition
Binding rebacked with original spine panel laid on. Contents quite clean overall with the exception of two leaves which contain some later pen notes. Very Good.
