Description
A Boch Freres Keramis, Charles Catteau designed, tall square pottery vase, the upper body with two rows of square panels with star and hatched decoration above narrow black and white stripes etc. The base with blue factory mark and monogramed Charles Catteau signature and pattern number D1139. 9.5 inches high, 1927.
The Boch factory was established in 1844 in La Louviere , Belgium. Charles Catteau was born in France in 1880 and began working at the Sevres Factory in 1902 and in 1906 moved to Belgium. In 1907 he was made head of the Boch Freres decorating department. The pattern number D1139 enables this vase to be dated precisely to 1927 and is also the the year the factory mark on the base of this vase was introduced.
