Description
A Fine ancient Egyptian Ushabti dating to around 570 BC. The Ushabti were funerary figurines placed in tombs among the grave goods in Ancient Egypt and were intended to act as servant figures that carried out the tasks required of the deceased in the underworld. This example is a pale green faience and mounted on wooden base. The Ushabti measures 4 3/8 inches on its base. Provenance: Ex Norman Hurst Gallery / Hurst & Hurst, Cambridge, Mass. 1985.
