Description
Frank Merill: Merill's Marauders Helmet. Known best for his command of Merill's Marauders in the Burma Campaign of World War II, Merill also helped lead two Marine platoons in the Battle of Alcatraz. Khaki colored helmet with red cloth bound brim. Two pins affixed to front of hat. "F.D. Merrill/ Brig. General" can be seen above the seal of the United States Army on label inside of the crown. Height of crown is 3.75". Wear throughout with some staining and missing thread. Minor oxidation to pins. Pleats and band are in in great condition as is the interior of the crown. Wonderful display piece with plenty of character.
