Impressive Baule Ivory coast carved wooden figures. Two figures sharing a bench. Male embracing female. Both with decorative scarification marks, stylized facial features and elongated bodies. The bench is supported by a central post and 4 bearded carved wood figures as support. Iron strips used to join left arm of man to his shoulder area. Large iron nail partially in the seat. Black/brown colored organic finished covering the wood is hard as stone with a similar filling used as weight for stability in underside of seat and possibly through the support column. Condition: obvious signs of weathering and wear. See images. Measures: 35" tall x 11" wide and 10" deep. Weight: approx. 10 lbs
